Job Summary
The Assistant Director for Fiscal Administration will provide professional management and reporting of operating and capital budgets for assigned areas. This role is responsible for overseeing the management and reporting of budgets and processes for assigned areas.
Core Responsibilities
- Ensures University policies and procedures regarding utilization of funds, endowment management, and financial reporting are in line with university guidelines and compliance.
- Serves as lead and provides direction to department/unit regarding budget preparation, management, and reporting. Develops and delivers training and assesses unit documents for accuracy and compliance.
- Oversees reporting and management of fees. Develops reporting procedures; maintains knowledge of rules; advises units on use; examines compliance issues; assists in enforcing rules; serves on committees; analyzes proposed increases and provides recommendations.
- Acts as a liaison to ensure accurate reporting and use of endowment funds. Develops reporting procedures; trains units on reporting and proper use of funds; analyze expenditures and reports; and oversees final reporting of use.
- Responsible for all budget and fiscal processes for assigned areas. Oversees and reviews prepared reconciliations, budget documents and develops budgetary reports.
- Provides budgetary and fiscal analysis for assigned areas.
- Serves as a primary reviewer and approves of budget transfers for assigned areas.
- Serves as the primary point of contact for all contracts and agreements and may request salary supplements.
- Provides guidance on policies and procedures to university stakeholders.
- Provides assistance in negotiation, administration, and liaison with other University offices or external agencies in connection with grant and research activities.
- Plans, organizes, develops, and coordinates special projects.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- Five (5) years of related work experience.
- This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, or related field of study.

- Clerical procedures and systems
- Independent decision-making and problem-solving ability
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Working Conditions
- Office environment.
- Workdays, areas, and work hours may vary based on the needs of the department.
Physical Demands
- Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary, if walking and standing are required, only occasionally.
- Sedentary: Up to 10lbs - Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
This position will work both on Downtown Campus and remotely in Texas. Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.
