Position Purpose

In support of Dartmouth College’s Alumni Relations mission, the Assistant Director of Alumni Experiences is a critical operational partner in delivering high-impact programming and events that connect Dartmouth alumni to the College and each other. This position works closely with Alumni Relations team leadership, Advancement colleagues, and campus partners to develop and execute volunteer and alumni engagement strategies and signature programs that support institutional priorities and lifelong alumni engagement.

Required Qualifications - Education and Yrs Exp

Bachelors or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Five years demonstrated experience in event or program management
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage details of multiple events concurrently
  • Demonstrated creative planning, organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Experience budgeting and vendor relations
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities, adept at managing multiple priorities
  • Ability to be perceptive and responsive to direction set forth from leadership
  • Ability to work effectively with volunteers, groups, and individuals
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with databases
  • Willingness to travel, work nights and weekends for event and project travel and oversight
  • Excellent attention to detail

Key Accountabilities

Alumni Engagement and Program Management (75%)

  • Develops and executes engagement strategies through events, volunteer initiatives, and targeted programming including reunions, homecoming, alumni council, conferences, trainings, as well as single-event programs in support of alumni relations targeted engagement and regional strategies.
  • Recruits, trains, and supports alumni volunteers; builds inclusive and diverse volunteer communities.
  • Serves as a strategic liaison between alumni and the College.
  • Leads end-to-end event planning including logistics, communications, vendor coordination and post-event evaluation.
  • Supports cross-functional collaboration with Advancement colleagues and campus partners.
  • Travels as needed for events, site visits, and alumni outreach.
  • Collaborates closely with Alumni Relations team leadership to develop and execute new engagement opportunities.

Marketing and Communications (25%)

  • Partners with internal teams to create effective marketing strategies and communications for alumni events and programs.
  • Crafts compelling content and promotional materials; manages outreach efforts.
  • Communicates with alumni and volunteers to share the institution’s priorities.
  • Engages faculty and external partners to ensure quality programming.

Demonstrates a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and cultural awareness. Performs other duties as assigned.
