Job Summary
This position is responsible for providing leadership, oversight, direction, and supervision of the Aquatic Center and associated programs. This position will work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders, including university units, student organizations, and external groups in the delivery and support of aquatic events and programs.
Responsibilities
- Recruit, hire, train, develop, and supervise 20 ' 30 student staff including graduate assistant(s), lifeguards, and team leaders
- Manage operations for indoor pools, outdoor pools, hot tubs and sauna including manage physical/mechanical systems associated with the aquatic center including the pump room and maintenance service contracts
- Establish the vision, identity, and values for CRI's Aquatics Center and develop strategies that drive growth, continuous improvement, safety, quality of programs, participant satisfaction, and improving administrative processes to increase efficiencies and achieve goals
- Provide leadership of program development including strategic planning, marketing, budgeting, execution, and assessment of programs and student learning outcomes
- Purchase and maintain aquatic equipment, chemicals, and supplies inventory
- Foster community and campus partnerships in support of the Aquatics Program
- Serve on departmental Risk Management Team
- Assure appropriate risk management standards are in place for all aquatic programs and services to meet or exceed industry standards
- Monitor industry trends to make appropriate modifications to current programs, equipment, risk management policies, and operational procedures
- Serve on University and departmental work teams and committees, and assist with department and/or facility special events
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in recreation, management, or related field
- Aquatic certification from a nationally accredited body
- Three (3) or more years of related work experience
Preferred Qualifications
Additional Preferred Qualifications
- Membership and active participant in NIRSA
- Master's Degree
- Current Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) certification
- Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding, Water Safety Instructor, or Lifeguarding Instructor certification
- Current American Red Cross Instructor Trainer (IT) for Water Safety, Lifeguarding or First Aid and CPR/AED certification
- Three (3) to five (5) years experience in collegiate recreation setting
- Experience producing large aquatic special events
- Experience instructing swim lessons
- Experience managing aquatics facilities including a pump room
- Supervisory experience
Proposed Salary
$50,173 - $63,955
This is an exempt position paid on a monthly basis.
