Duties and Responsibilities
The Auburn University at Montgomery Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is seeking a strategic and detail-oriented professional for the role of Assistant Director of Athletic Communications position. The position is full-time and will report to the Director of Athletic Communications. The candidate selected to fill this position will be responsible for the following:
- Serve as media contact of sports assigned by the Director of Athletic Communications
- Assist in the daily maintenance of the AUM Athletics website
- Ensure consistent branding across platforms and that information about the University’s intercollegiate athletics programs is available to the public in a timely and effective manner
- Input game statistics for assigned sports and contests assigned by the Director of Athletic Communications
- Assist with creating graphic and video content for all social media accounts sponsored by the Department of Athletics
- Assist with the production of video streaming and instant replay of athletic department contests, as well as maintenance of all streaming and replay equipment
- Attend all assigned university sporting events
- Disseminate athletic department information to various media outlets (print, television, radio, internet, etc.)
- Develop and maintain cordial, professional relationships with university, community representatives and media, in order to encourage the promotion of the University’s athletics programs
- Ensure proper records and statistics for assigned sports are kept in an orderly manner for historical as well as daily information requests
- Assist with the creation of publications such as record books, fliers, invitations, special brochures and any University athletic event programs
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletic Communications, Associate Director of Athletics for External Affairs and Director of Athletics
As a part of the job responsibilities associated with this position, knowledge of rules and regulations set forth by the NCAA and Gulf South Conference should be maintained, reviewed and practiced to ensure compliance relative to those applicable duties.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The candidate should possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Knowledge of acceptable marketing/promotion techniques
- Knowledge of statistical software (NCAA Genius, Presto, Statcrew, etc.)
- Knowledge of graphic design and publication software (Adobe Creative Suite, Gipper, BoxOut, etc.)
- Knowledge of video streaming platforms and video editing software (FloSports, BlueFrame, etc.)
- Knowledge of applicable policies and procedures
- Skill in making written and oral presentations
- Skill in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to communication with various audiences, both orally and in writing
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year institution. One (1) year of related experience in college athletics communications or sports journalism.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong knowledge of NCAA Genius and Presto Sports Statistical software, Adobe Creative Suite, BlueFrame Technology Video streaming platform, FloSports and graphic design capabilities.
