Overview

The College of Education at Auburn University is excited to announce their search for an Assistant Director of Communications and Marketing.

This position will support the college's Director of Communications and Marketing and advance the college's mission by leading internal communications and engagement initiatives that inform and connect faculty, staff, students, and other key constituents. This role develops and executes strategies for messaging, event promotion, and outreach to faculty, staff, alumni, donors, partners, and community stakeholders. The Assistant Director partners across academic units and administrative offices to ensure clear, timely communications, consistent brand expression, and measurable engagement outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in directing the administrative and functional duties in relation to communication and marketing services.
  • Writes, edits, and directs the generation of marketing and story copy, publications material and internal communications for dissemination.
  • Creates and executes communication strategies to inform, connect and motivate internal college audiences.
  • Develops content for various channels, advising leadership, managing internal tools, and fostering a positive culture in support of events and engagement initiatives.
  • Advises, collaborates, and consults with department/program, school, and university leaders, deans, and faculty regarding communications, public relations, and marketing issues and directives.
  • Supervises staff in the fulfillment of internal communications and engagement strategies.
  • Develops and manages department budget to include reviewing and approving financial reports, vouchers, and acquisitions.
  • Works with communications teams to develop marketing and communications plan to promote the vision, mission, goals, and achievements of the College.
  • Initiates, formulates, and implements policies, procedures, programs, and projects for improved management and compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Business, or related field.
  • 5 years of experience in marketing and communications services.
  • Knowledge of various marketing and communication theories, concepts, techniques, mediums and strategies. Ability to write for various audiences and in various formats.
