This position assists in directing residential life for Dalton State College.

Responsibilities

Coordinates and supervises residential life services - 40%
- Manage day-to day operations of a residential community serving 365 residents including occupancy management, maintenance issues, access control, student concerns, programming initiatives, academic support, student involvement and serving as a liaison between students and Dalton State College
- Acts as the primary supervisor for the Head Resident, and Resident Assistant team. This includes organizing and hosting proper trainings for all paraprofessionals throughout their employment contract. Provide timely feedback and performance evaluations for all supervised staff
- Advises the Residence Hall Association (RHA) Executive Board including attending all Executive Board and General Assembly meetings, RHA conferences, and programs hosted by the organization
- Serves as administrative hearing officer for the department; adjudicates administrative hearings related to violations of the Housing Agreement and the Student Code of Conduct
- Coordinates Head Resident and Resident Assistant recruitment, selection, and training processes
- Creates and implements ongoing assessments for trainings, initiatives, activities and events

Develops and implements marketing and public relations strategies - 10%
- In conjunction with the Director, develop, implement, manage, and coordinate a comprehensive marketing strategy for departmental initiatives and programs through the creation of printed materials, social media, and other advertising
- Represents Residential Life at marketing events including orientation, admission open houses, and other college programs

Serves as the department's fiscal officer - 10%
- Serves in the capacity of a fiscal officer for the department responsible for managing the programming budget and purchasing all programming needs and office supplies

Manages residence life operational and programming efforts - 40%
- Oversees the development and implementation of social, educational, cultural, service, and recreational programming
- Intentional development of a community-based programming model to be the ever changing and specific needs of the students within the residential area
- Assists in the coordination of the operational aspects of residence hall openings and closings
- Maintains the safety and well-being of residential students by organizing health and safety inspections and by conducting fire and tornado drills
- Participates in an administrative on-call rotation for campus emergencies

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
- Baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field required

Other Required Qualifications
- More than two years of related experience
- Must live in on campus housing provided by the institution

- Knowledge of Dalton State College and University System of Georgia policies and procedures
- Knowledge of related federal policies, procedures, regulations and laws
- Knowledge of best practices in the field of residence life services
- Knowledge of residence life program management theory
- Knowledge of budget development and management principles
- Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs
- Knowledge of program assessment and management principles
