Fully Grant-Funded Position

Title of Position: Assistant Director of TRIO Student Support Services Special Population

Funding: This position is funded by a new US Department of Education TRIO Student Support Services special population grant. The grant is currently funded through August 31, 2026, but may continue until August 31, 2030, if additional funds are allocated by Congress.

Bargaining Unit/Salary Range: MEA Administrator; Level III (pending classification); $50,172.57 - $56,469.65

Job Summary: The TRIO SSS Assistant Director is responsible for a wide variety of grant management and implementation activities focused on students who are actively participating in the federally funded TRIO program for students with disabilities (including mental health disabilities, learning disabilities, ADHD or on the autism spectrum). The Assistant Director is responsible for ensuring project compliance with regulatory standards; providing 1:1 retention advising with 100 participants; providing relevant transfer advising with participants; developing and operationalizing student academic success and recovery plans; conducting intake meetings and onboarding new participants; documenting outcomes and conducting assessments; teaching yearly FYE class; assisting the Director with data collection and analysis. The Assistant Director will work collaboratively with 1-2 Success Coaches and tutors to help students build academic skills. Emphasis is placed on program development and implementation, student services, collecting and reporting data, and ensuring student success and achievement of grant goals. The Assistant Director reports to the SSS Director.

Minimum Qualifications: Masters degree in education, counseling, psychology, student personnel services, or a related field. Two to four years of progressive experience developing and managing educational programs in secondary or higher education. Demonstrated knowledge of developmental education and understanding of the various risk factors associated with students with disabilities. Administrative and organizational skills; data gathering, management and reporting skills; ability to adapt to changing technologies that support teaching and participant learning. Demonstrated sensitivity and experience working with students and/or individuals from diverse social, economic, and academic backgrounds. Two or more years of academic advising, counseling, supplemental instruction and/or teaching experience. Proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database software, and Student Information Systems.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Financial literacy background.
  • Experience coordinating activities with faculty, staff, and students in a post-secondary advising setting.
  • Knowledge of student development; understanding the wide range of EMCC students needs, and ability to relate to a diverse student body.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated experience working with at-risk students, including those who are first generation, low income, and/or students with disabilities.
  • Preference will be given to individuals who have succeeded in overcoming barriers similar those of SSS eligible students.
