The primary goal of Wharton's Graduate Communication Program is to prepare students for the communication challenges of the workplace - emphasizing persuasive speaking and writing. The Program is responsible for teaching MBA and Executive MBA students and coaching PhD students on their research papers and academic job talks. The Assistant Director will report to the Director of the program.
Job Description
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide curricular support for WHCP core communication courses required for Wharton MBA and Executive MBA students. This includes updating instructional materials, managing Canvas sites, and managing classroom partners (e.g., media trainers, guest speakers, etc.) for approximately 40-50 sections each semester.
- Assist course heads in scheduling, training, and supporting approximately 40 P/T instructors and 50 Teaching Assistants to ensure consistent curriculum implementation across all course sections. This includes occasionally substituting when the primary instructor is unable to attend a class session.
- Assist with recruiting and hiring part-time lecturers, including auditions, observations, and training. Work closely with the Director and Operations Manager on the appointment process.
- Support WHCP initiatives and other programs throughout the School in which WHCP is involved. This may involve assisting with workshops, serving on committees, and/or collaborating with other departments.
- Provide occasional evening and weekend support for WHCP courses and events.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Qualifications:
- Master's degree and 2 to 5 years of experience in business or higher education.
- Experience teaching in higher education.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a proven track record of working successfully and collegially in a fast-paced work environment.
- Ability to occasionally travel to our San Francisco campus and work evenings and weekends to support WHCP activities.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience teaching at the graduate school level.
- Experience working with Canvas LMS.
