Position Summary:
The Assistant Director of the Honors Program coordinates, processes and supports undergraduates in completing Honors Protocols. This position is responsible for managing core elements of the required Honors Program protocols, including stewarding the capstone project administrative process, independent studies, and contracts. The Assistant Director ensures the alignment of Honors Program processes with university systems and engages in regular improvement of program processes and procedures. This position works closely with office administrative staff and the Director in liaising with campus partners and in building professional and personal development opportunities for students. Additional responsibilities include producing the annual assessment report in conjunction with the Director and the Honors Council, assisting in recruiting efforts, and engaging in student community-building.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelorās degree.
- Two years of progressively responsible experience in higher education.
- Experience with data-informed decision making and constructing reports or spreadsheets.
- Demonstrated ability to support undergraduate students in achieving educational goals.
- Must be able to work with a high level of independence and a high degree of autonomy.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to apply technologies to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of communication.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain positive, professional, and productive relationships with program constituents, including students, faculty, and administrators.
- Demonstrated efficacy with teamwork and collaborative problem-solving in a professional office setting.
- Demonstrated ability to accomplish administrative assignments/projects independently and in a timely manner.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task successfully in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent computer skills, including the Microsoft Office suite and videoconferencing technology.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masterās degree.
- Progressively responsible experience in a complex office setting.
- Experience with online record systems, including knowledge of SAP, Slate, Blackboard and Watermark.
- Experience with basic data analysis.
- Experience with co-curricular programming or professional development programming.
- Experience with assessing and advising student research.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Serves as a member of the Directorās leadership team.
- Advises students on the Honors Program and Centralis Scholarship protocol, including course planning, coursework alignment with personal and professional goals, graduation requirements, and interaction with financial aid.
- Coordinates the capstone research project process, including tracking proposals and projects and communicating with students, faculty, and university partners.
- Assists in the administration of curricular processes (e.g. uploading information into online forms, liaising with other offices).
- Provides administrative leadership for independent study courses and contracts.
- Coordinates programming for office staff and students.
- Creates the annual assessment report as instructed by the Director and Honors Council.
- Updates student academic records in alignment with work on capstone projects and other Honors protocols.
- Manages student messaging as subset of the Directorās communication plan
- Trains reviewers, collates reviewer responses, and ranks applicants for final committee decisions as a subset of the Centralis Scholarship Competition.
- Collaborates with the Honors Program Director to evaluate and refine program policies and procedures.
- Supervises student workers as needed.
- Assists with Honors Program recruiting efforts; engaging with undergraduate students and encouraging them to apply for the program.
