Assistant Football Coach - Linebackers Coach
Purpose
To serve as the Linebackers Coach for the football program at Oklahoma Baptist University (OBU) within the philosophy and direction of the Head Coach as well as demonstrating a commitment to live out and advance the OBU mission statement through the sport of Football. Must comply with all NCAA, Great American Conference and institutional rules and regulations.
Essential Functions
- The Linebackers Coach is responsible for the development and performance of the linebackers unit. This position involves coaching student-athletes in techniques, strategies, and game preparation while promoting a culture of excellence and teamwork.
- Key Responsibilities: Coaching and Development.
- Conduct position-specific drills and practices to enhance skills and techniques.
- Analyze game film to provide constructive feedback and improve player performance.
- Foster the personal and athletic growth of student-athletes.
- Game Strategy: collaborate with the defensive coordinator to develop game plans and defensive schemes, scout opposing teams to identify offensive tendencies and weaknesses.

- Monitor the academic progress of the Linebackers.
- Player eligibility.
- Recruiting.
Required Qualifications
- Previous coaching experience at the collegiate or high school level, preferably with quarterbacks.
- Strong knowledge of football strategies and techniques.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Education
Required: Bachelor’s degree.
Preferred: Master’s degree.
Experience
Required: Collegiate coaching experience.
Preferred: Advanced football knowledge.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to carry at least 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
Special Requirements
- Must be a member of a local evangelical* Christian church.*Evangelical is a broad term referring to segment within Christianity which maintains the authority of the Bible and the belief in salvation by faith in Jesus alone.
