Offer Description
Research and teaching in the processing, analysis and modelling of large and complex datasets, particularly data originating from technical and industrial systems, using numerical methods, databases, machine learning and software tools. The successful candidate will participate in research conducted by the Laboratory of Computer Science in Control and Management, develop scalable data-processing methods, prepare scientific publications, contribute to research projects and teach laboratory classes.
Employment: full-time, fixed-term employment contract for 12 months, with possibility of extension; starting date 1 October 2026; AGH University of Krakow as the primary place of employment.

Skills/Qualifications
- A Master's or Master of Engineering degree, or an equivalent qualification, in computer science, automation and robotics, mathematics, computational mathematics or a related field in the discipline automation, electronics, electrical engineering and space technologies;
- For conducting research and teaching (including conducting laboratory classes), documented by activity in student research groups or by a research track record resulting from university studies and/or professional experience;
- Good programming skills, particularly in Python or another language used for data analysis;
- Knowledge of linear algebra, mathematical analysis, numerical methods, statistics or optimisation;
- Knowledge of SQL and relational databases;
- Knowledge of machine-learning methods and data preparation and processing;
- Ability to formulate and test research hypotheses;
- English language proficiency at a minimum B2 level;
- Polish proficiency sufficient to teach classes; candidates whose native language is not Polish must provide a certificate of Polish proficiency at a minimum C1 level.
Specific Requirements
- Experience with large or complex datasets;
- Design and implementation of numerical algorithms;
- Application of machine learning, including deep learning;
- Knowledge of Git;
- Nice to have development of research software;
- Tools supporting automation, reproducibility and scaling of computations;
- Database-system architectures or distributed processing;
- Projects in optimisation, mathematical modelling or numerical analysis;
- Nice to have documented mathematical, analytical or programming achievements.

The recruitment procedure is divided into two stages:
- Formal assessment – assessment of the completeness of the application documents and compliance with the requirements specified in the Act, the AGH University Statute, and the competition announcement,
- Substantive assessment – an objective and merit-based assessment of applications submitted by candidates who have successfully passed the previous stage; interviews with candidates may be conducted at this stage (either in person or remotely).
The candidate has the right to appeal against the competition results within 5 working days after receiving the notification.
