NASK National Research Institute in Poland offers an outstanding research environment with unique datasets, labs, and network infrastructure, supporting world-class scientific research with cybersecurity and artificial intelligence applications.
NASK, as a leading research institute in Central Europe, invites talented scientist to join a research group in Department of Artificial Intelligence Applications in Medicine and Sensitive Data Analysis, that focuses on the analysis of multimodal data, in particular medical data, machine learning, deep learning, digital signal analysis, development of AI techniques, pattern and anomaly detection, removal of perturbations present in multidimensional data, development of decision support systems in medical diagnosis and other fields and issues related to processing, masking and classification of sensitive data.
We announce a competition for Assistant Professor positions in the Department of Artificial Intelligence Applications in Medicine and Sensitive Data Analysis at the NASK Centre for Research and Development.
We are looking for an ambitious and highly motivated researcher with strong engineering skills in machine learning, deep learning, software development, and proven experience in cybersecurity-related projects.
Tasks:
- Supporting and promoting the vision and mission of the Department
- Co-managing the Department’s portfolio of research and development initiatives
- Direct participation in the coordination, supervision, and conduct of research activities within the Department
- Scientific and technical cooperation both within NASK and with external entities

Skills/Qualifications
Requirements:
- A PhD degree in technical science and telecommunications, computer science, mathematics, or a related discipline;
- Proven scientific achievements (including publications in national and international journals, conference presentations, and participation in scientific and R&D projects) in at least three of the following areas:
- Privacy-preserving data analysis and data mining;
- Recovery or completion of incomplete data;
- Optimization methods applied in data analysis and machine learning, including methods utilizing low-rank matrix representations;
- Artificial intelligence and machine learning;
- Large-scale data processing;
- Distributed systems and large-scale computing;
- Cybersecurity of information systems, including network traffic analysis;
- Proficiency in Python programming, experience in developing deep neural networks, and practical knowledge of the PyTorch framework;
- Demonstrated experience in developing methods, algorithms, or software tools for data analysis and machine learning;
- Authorship or co-authorship of scientific publications in the fields of data analysis, machine learning, cybersecurity, or computing systems published in internationally recognized journals or conference proceedings;
- Software development experience demonstrated through participation in research, R&D, or implementation projects;
- Very good knowledge of Linux operating systems, high-level programming languages (particularly Python), and database systems;
- Fluency in Polish;
- English language proficiency at a minimum B2 level;
- A valid security clearance granting access to classified information marked as “Confidential”;
- Ability to prepare documents and presentations using LaTeX and standard office software suites, as well as promotional materials presenting scientific achievements.
Additional qualifications:
- Experience in research, R&D, or implementation projects, particularly those financed through national or international funding programmes;
- Experience related to:
- Analysis of cybersecurity-related data or medical data;
- Critical cybersecurity systems, particularly threat detection in network traffic;
- Large-scale data processing;
- Development of data-driven decision-support methods;
- Experience in designing, implementing, or optimizing computing systems dedicated to processing large datasets;
- Experience in collaboration with industrial partners, research institutions, or public-sector organizations.
