The Department of Electronics, Computers and Electrical Engineering provides teaching and research in electronics, telecommunications, computing and electrical engineering.
This fixed-term Assistant Lecturer position is intended for a doctoral candidate. The role involves teaching seminars and laboratory classes, supervising practical assignments and contributing to the department’s research activities.
The subjects included in the position are: Software for Applied Electronics; Software Engineering for Communications; Applied Computer Science; Medical Electronics; Electronic Measurement Instrumentation; Measurements in Electronics and Telecommunications; Signals and Systems; Digital Signal Processing; and Automotive Electrical Systems.

Skills/Qualifications
Candidates should be able to demonstrate the following competencies relevant to the subjects included in the position:
- Analyse continuous-time and discrete-time signals and systems using Fourier, Laplace and Z transforms, convolution, sampling and frequency-domain representations.
- Apply digital signal processing methods, including the discrete Fourier transform, spectral analysis, digital filtering and sampling-rate conversion.
- Configure electronic measurement setups; use oscilloscopes, multimeters and digital instruments; assess measurement errors; and interpret experimental data.
- Analyse the operation of measurement circuits, including circuits based on operational amplifiers, analogue-to-digital converters and instruments for measuring voltage, current, impedance, frequency and phase.
- Explain and test basic biomedical signal acquisition circuits, including electrodes, signal-conditioning stages and amplifiers used for electrocardiographic and other electrophysiological signals.
- Specify software requirements, represent software designs using appropriate diagrams, and apply software testing methods to applications in electronics and communications.
- Use computer operating systems, basic networking concepts and office applications for technical data processing and documentation.
- Read automotive electrical diagrams and interpret measurements and diagnostic data relating to batteries, alternators, starting systems, sensors, actuators, electronic control units and on-board diagnostics.
- Use relevant laboratory equipment and simulation software to verify circuit or system behaviour and present reproducible results.
