The dean of the Faculty of Polish Studies, with the consent of the Rector of the University of Warsaw, announces a competition for the position of assistant lecturer.

Skills/Qualifications
Conditions for entering the competition:
- Fulfilment of the requirements set out in Article 113 of the Law on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws of 2024, item 1571, consolidated text).
- Master’s degree.
- Fluent knowledge of Polish Sign Language.
- Completion of training courses in the didactics of Polish Sign Language.
- Teaching experience at the university level, including conducting classes in Polish Sign Language taught as a foreign language at various levels of proficiency.
The requirements stated in the competition announcement should be met by the candidates on the date of application.
Basic responsibilities and obligations:
- Conducting classes, in particular Polish Sign Language courses taught as a foreign language, both generally accessible courses and courses included in syllabuses of the Faculty of Polish Studies of the University of Warsaw; continuously improving professional skills and competencies in teaching; tutoring students.
- Participating in organisational activities, undertaking and responsible performing organisational duties and functions, especially those resulting from the current needs of the Faculty of Polish Studies and the Department of General Linguistics, Sign Language Linguistics and Baltic Studies, and related to research or education conducted in the Faculty.

Specific Requirements
Additional assets include:
- Experience in promoting Polish Sign Language and Deaf culture.
- Experience in carrying out project-based academic initiatives.
- Experience in performing organisational duties related to training in Polish Sign Language.
- Knowledge of other sign languages (other than Polish Sign Language).
If hired, we expect the University of Warsaw to be the primary workplace for the successful candidate.

Eligibility criteria
Criteria for the assessment of candidates in a competition:
- substantive quantitative and qualitative evaluation of achievements based on the submitted documentation: max. 60 p.:
- academic achievements: max. 10 p.
- teaching experience: max. 45 p.
- organizational achievements: max. 5 p.
- substantive evaluation of the interview process: max. 40 p.
Total score: max. 100 p.
In deciding the competition, consideration will be given to those who meet the condition of obtaining min. 60 p., including:
- min. 35 p. for substantive quantitative and qualitative evaluation of achievements on the basis of submitted documentation
- min. 25 p. for substantive evaluation of the interview process.

Selection process
The competition consists of the following stages:
- Stage I – formal evaluation of documents,
- Stage II – substantive evaluation on the basis of submitted documents,
- Stage III – interview with selected candidates. During the interview, the candidate will answer questions from the committee relating to the documents submitted, in particular information about their didactic experience and further plans, and will be asked to comment on the prepared syllabus.
- Stage IV – final evaluation of competence, experience and scientific achievements,
- Stage V – adjudication of the competition and announcement of results.
