Assistant or Associate Professor in Exercise Science
Job Description
The Exercise Science Department of Thiel College invites applications for a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track position at either the assistant or associate professor rank to teach undergraduate level Exercise Science courses beginning in the Fall of 2026.
Primary responsibilities include teaching a variety of courses such as Introduction to Exercise Science, Anatomy and Physiology I and II, Facility Management, and Strength and Conditioning and/or Exercise Testing and Prescription. The ideal candidate will demonstrate evidence of teaching effectiveness and mentoring of undergraduate internships and research projects. Preference will be given to candidates who can also teach human anatomy and physiology and/or medical terminology to undergraduate biology students.
The successful candidate will teach 24 credit hours per academic year and will support the overall academic program of the Exercise Science Department and the College. This includes academic advising of students and mentorship of undergraduate internships and research projects, and contributing to the core curriculum of the College on a periodic basis.
Preferred and Required Qualifications
Qualifications
- A Ph.D., Ed.D. or equivalent in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, or a related field is preferred; ABD candidates will be considered if the defense of the degree is imminent. Non-terminal degrees (master’s degree minimum) may be considered for a non-tenure track position.
- Professional-level certification through the NCSA or ACSM or the ability to obtain certification upon hire.
- Teaching experience in the areas of Exercise Science and Human Anatomy and Physiology among a diverse student population.
