EMPLOYMENT TERMS: Tenure track, 9-month position

PRIMARY DUTY: The successful candidate will be responsible for providing undergraduate instruction in animal science and implementing coursework for a Food Science minor. Ideal qualities: demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and curriculum development, student support, university service, and scholarly activity, ability to integrate technology and experiential learning into course materials, versatile and willing to serve as an integral part of a diversified and active team of agricultural sciences faculty.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Teaching: Design and deliver courses in the undergraduate animal science and food systems curriculum. Teach 24-26 credit hours/year of animal science and food systems courses during the fall and spring trimesters. Operation of technologies relevant to the discipline while developing and executing profession-based learning opportunities. Additional summer courses and associated compensation may be available.
  2. Creative and Scholarly Efforts: Participate in professional development including grant writing and research activities. Collaborate with private and governmental entities.
  3. Service and Student Support: Supervise and advise students and student organizations. Actively participate in university service including committee work and participation in departmental service projects.
  4. Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Ph.D. in Animal Science or Food Science or closely related field. ABD with a documented plan of completion by start date will be considered

Experience: Demonstrated successful teaching at the college-level

Skills: Evidence of successful teaching and curriculum development skills; knowledge of U.S. agricultural production systems; knowledge of U.S. food systems; effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills; strong organizations skills; operation of relevant laboratory equipment; collaboration/outreach with government agencies & private entities

WORKING CONDITIONS: Typical university classroom, office and laboratory conditions with weekly office hours required

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Student employees

EQUIPMENT/MATERIALS USED: Common laboratory equipment, common classroom equipment and software
