Assistant or Associate Professor of School-Community Psychology
The Department of Psychology at Hofstra University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant or early Associate Professor level, beginning in September 2026 for our APA-accredited PsyD Program in School-Community Psychology. We seek a passionate, innovative educator and clinician-scholar whose work bridges theory, research, and practice and who is eager to contribute to a vibrant, student-centered department.
The ideal candidate will bring energy and expertise to teaching and mentoring students through doctoral-level instruction in Community Psychology, Preventive Mental Health, or School Psychology–related topics. We are especially interested in applicants who can inspire students, integrate real-world experiences into the classroom, and contribute to our commitment to socially responsive psychological practice. Applicants are expected to develop a research program that incorporates students working on second-year research projects and doctoral dissertations. While candidates with applied and research interests in childhood trauma are especially encouraged to apply, we also welcome applicants with expertise in other areas of school and community psychology.
Our PsyD Program in School-Community Psychology is nationally recognized for its integrated training approach and features three dynamic specialty clinics: the Diagnostic and Research Institute for Autism Spectrum Disorders, the Institute for Family Forensic Psychology, and the Positive Psychology Institute for Emerging Adulthood. These clinics are central to our students' training, research, and community outreach efforts. The chosen candidate will have the exciting opportunity to develop and lead a new specialty clinic, customized to their expertise and aligned with our mission to promote mental health across diverse school and community settings.
Hofstra University is located on Long Island in close proximity to New York City (25 miles east of Manhattan), with its wealth of business, entertainment, and cultural opportunities. Preference will be given to candidates with training in school and community psychology. Experience in community-based programming and prevention is preferred. We strongly encourage applicants with historically underrepresented identities to apply.
