Assistant or Associate Professor of Sonography and Program Director
Assistant or Associate Professor of Sonography and Program Director
Division: Academic Affairs
Department/Office: Sonography
The Sonography Department at St. Catherine University invites applications for a full-time Assistant or Associate Professor and Program Director position.
The Program Director(s) provide administrative leadership and oversight of daily operations, curricular development, and the effectiveness of the general and echocardiography tracks to ensure the program meets its mission and goals. Maintaining accreditation standards and ensuring the quality of clinical affiliations and the didactic curriculum to prepare students as competent, credentialed entry-level sonographers is a central focus of this role. This is a 10-month, professional practice position that carries the expectation of 6.66 course loads each year. These course loads will include teaching and program administration. Dependent on applicants' backgrounds and experience, the initial appointment may be at the assistant or associate professor level.
Additionally, depending on the number and qualifications of candidates, the institution may hire two program directors: one for the adult cardiac concentration (i.e., the Echocardiography track) and one for the Abdominal-Extended, Obstetrics and Gynecology concentrations (i.e., the General track). Individuals who possess credentials in either or both of these specialties are encouraged to apply.
Program Directors are leaders at St. Catherine University, overseeing faculty and students' progress, motivating and coaching them to improve work performance, and evaluating the department's current performance while developing plans, goals, and strategies for improvement.
The Sonography department is part of the Henrietta Schmoll School of Health Sciences (HSSHS). With 19 degree programs and approximately 100 faculty, the HSSHS is the largest of St. Kate's three schools. Degrees are offered to students at all levels, from the associate to the doctoral level. The school is distinguished by programs' shared focus on ecological approaches to health, intercultural competency, and interprofessional collaboration. Faculty and staff will find ample opportunities for support in their teaching, scholarship, and professional practice. The Institute of Simulation and Interprofessional Learning (I-SAIL) provides resources and expertise to support the development and implementation of high-impact educational activities within HSSHS and the School of Nursing.
