Job Summary/Basic Function

The incumbent will fill critical teaching needs of the Boonshoft School of Medicine (BSOM) within the Departments of Neuroscience, Cell Biology, and Physiology (NCBP).

Specifically, the incumbent will be expected to create teaching and learning materials as well as strategies for human anatomy and embryology education, primarily for medical students. They will be a key leader and collaborator in the development and delivery of the medical school's lecture-free Wright curriculum, and will instruct and coordinate instruction in anatomy and embryology across the entire first two years of the medical school curriculum.

Additional specific needs include contributing to the development, delivers, and management of the anatomy labs across all programs as well as leading efforts to incorporate education/training in imaging methods used to improve medical student education and training throughout the curriculum - this effort will likely span the entire four-year curriculum.

Minimum Qualifications

• Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent doctoral degree and appropriate credentials for appointment at the Assistant Professor level with excellent oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Postdoctoral research experience with demonstrated productivity through publications and funding commensurate with their rank.
• Experience with medical student and/or other biomedical education, including course/curriculum design and assessment, use of innovative teaching and learning strategies.
• Prior experience in medical student human gross anatomy/embryology curricular development.
• Prior experience incorporating imaging techniques and images into training of human structure and functional relationships.
• Recent scholarly activities such as peer-reviewed publications, development of education materials, extramural grant support.

Essential Functions and percent of time

The incumbent will also be expected to produce scholarly activity at a level consistent with rank.

50%-Lead and collaborate with other faculty members across departments in developing and delivering the BSOM Wright curriculum, including design and implementation of innovative teaching and learning strategies; instruct and create instructional and assessment materials, apply a scholarly approach to teaching and curriculum implementation.

20%-Other departmental educational initiatives/activities related to graduate or undergraduate students.

20%-Perform scholarly activity.

10%-Participate in and/or serve in leadership roles on committees/task forces within the Department and medical school, i.e. admissions, curriculum, research.

Standard office and laboratory conditions.
