Location: On-campus (River Forest, IL)
Position Summary:
Dominican University's Borra College of Health Sciences, Elizabeth T. MacNeil School of Nursing invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Track Lead to teach for our new Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) track beginning August 2025. This is a tenure-track position.
This PMHNP Track Lead will require professional knowledge, administrative and management skills, academic policy expertise, accreditation experience, and cultural sensitivity. The Track Lead will coordinate and supervise the implementation of the PMHNP track year-round through a 12-month full-time academic year appointment.
The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) track lead will oversee all aspects of the development and implementation of the doctoral program. The Track Lead will collaborate with the Executive Director of Nursing on the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Program plan of study, course development, and curriculum pathway.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure that academic program content and structure meet all regulatory and accreditation standards.
- Monitor evaluation and feedback on program outcomes and quality.
- Set up, observe, and regularly communicate program performance indicators.
- Oversee resource planning and PMHNP faculty and staff development.
- Instruct courses with a dedication to academic excellence and student success.
- Support the administration and evaluation of the academic progress of students in the assigned course(s) and PMHNP program.
- Collaborate with the Elizabeth T. MacNeil School of Nursing Leadership to ensure PMHNP Program strategic and budget plan to ensure the financial well-being of the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Program as measured by student enrollment and outcomes.
- Foster a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the PMHNP program.
- Maintain currency with PHMNP practices.
- Serve as the PMHNP curriculum and content expert.
- Ensure that the PMHNP track meets AACN essentials, National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties NONPF standards, and any other standards particular to the track.
- Coordinate and lead all CCNE accreditation reporting requirements and visits. Stay current with CCNE standards and regulatory requirements.
- Serves as the first line of contact for student academic and discipline issues in the PMHNP track and addresses the concerns in collaboration with the Elizabeth T. MacNeil School of Nursing Leadership.
- Participate in new graduate student orientation to ensure students understand program plan of study, clinical rules and regulations, and all academic and behavioral expectations of the graduate program.
- Participation in creating a graduate student handbook and recommend policies that must be developed for the effective operation of the program per AACN, CCNE, and NONPF.
Required Qualifications:
The following qualifications are required unless otherwise stated:
- Doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, DNP) in nursing or related field required. If ABD, must have earned a doctorate by August 15, 2025.
- Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) Certification (AANP or ANCC).
- Current, unencumbered RN and APRN licensure in Illinois.
- Current knowledge of nursing practice at the program level.
- Five (5) years of clinical practice as a nurse practitioner.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to spend long durations of the workday sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds at times
Salary and FLSA Status
FLSA Status: Exempt, full-time
SALARY: $108,000 - $115,000 annually
