Job Summary:
The Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine is seeking applicants for a full time (1.0FTE) Assistant Professor - Associate Professor Ophthalmologist in comprehensive care. The position will provide immediate assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for urgent conditions, including corneal abrasions, foreign body removal, eye infections (keratitis, conjunctivitis), chemical burns, acute glaucoma, and sudden vision changes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for direct patient care at the Sue Anschutz Rodgers Eye Center (SAREC) and affiliated satellite clinics in the Denver metro area.
- Working in a high-volume, fast-paced environment, managing a mix of urgent cases and a base patient load. Assessing the severity of eye complaints to determine if they need immediate intervention.
- Coordination of patient care with subspecialty services.
- This is a non-surgical position. However, there is opportunity to perform minor office-based procedures within the candidate's scope of practice.
- Co-management of surgical patients with subspecialty ophthalmology surgeons.
Work Location:
Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Assistant Professor or Associate Professor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below:
Assistant Professor
- Qualified candidates must have an MD or DO and have completed an approved residency program in Ophthalmology. Must have a Colorado medical license or be eligible.
- 1-3 years experience
Associate Professor
- Qualified candidates must have an MD or DO and have completed an approved residency program in Ophthalmology. Must have a Colorado medical license or be eligible.
- 3+ years experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous work experience in an academic or hospital based healthcare environment is preferred.

$190,000-$235,000
Associate Professor
