Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. in the biological sciences or related fields.

Candidates are expected to document expertise in their specialty by a record of postdoctoral training, peer reviewed publications, and a promise for an extramurally funding research program.

The successful candidates are expected to contribute to research, teaching, and mentoring in our undergraduate and graduate curricula.

The Department of Biological Sciences supports BS, BA, MS (thesis & non-thesis) and Ph.D. programs with a multicultural body of faculty and students, and prides itself with hand-on-training of its students.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the teaching mission of the Department of Biological Sciences and participation in the development/implementation of undergraduate and graduate curricula employing best practices in classroom pedagogy, and a strong commitment to fostering the success of students with varying learning styles and academic backgrounds.

Minimum Experience / Education:

UNC Charlotte gives primary consideration to the earned doctorate or terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline.

Preferred Education Skills and Experience:

Candidates are expected to have a record of postdoctoral training and peer-reviewed publications and expected to establish a new research program in an area relevant to the biological sciences. Preferred consideration will be given to applicants with research interests complementing the Department of Biological Sciences research foci including Immunology, Microbiology, and Virology; Biomolecular Function; Proteostasis; Genome Integrity and Epigenome Regulation; Cancer Research; Environmental Risks and Adaptation; and with the potential to synergize with Nanoscience, the Center for Computational Intelligence to Predict Health & Environmental Ricks (CIPHER), or the School of Data Science. Previous teaching and mentoring experience are desirable.
