Assistant Professor
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Candidates must possess a PhD in social work or a related field or expect completion of the PhD by August 15, 2026. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to conduct original research including publishing, the potential to seek and secure extramural funding, and the potential to provide excellent instruction across the BSW and MSW curricula. Candidates must also demonstrate competency in NASW ethical principles, including social justice and dignity and worth of the person.
Minimum Experience / Education:
UNC Charlotte gives primary consideration to the earned doctorate or terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline.
Preferred Education Skills and Experience:
An MSW from a CSWE-accredited program is highly desirable. If a candidate possesses a PhD in a field related to social work, an MSW from a CSWE-accredited program is required. We prefer candidates with strong academic records, including achievement in original research and scholarship, success in securing external funds for research, and a commitment to quality teaching that includes online learning environments. Preference will be given to individuals whose research focuses on specialty practice areas within urban communities and health (including digital) equity. Additionally, preference will be given to individuals who demonstrate interdisciplinary team science approaches, translational research practices, and experience with interprofessional education.
