Assistant Professor
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology invites applications for an Assistant Professor position beginning August 15, 2026. A Ph.D. in criminal justice, criminology, or a related discipline is required at the time of appointment. Other requirements include: (1) demonstrates potential for high quality research productivity, (2) experience or interest in grantsmanship, and (3) experience or interest in teaching courses related to the department's concentration in crime analytics, which can include the application of quantitative/qualitative research methods, data/crime analytics, and/or technology (e.g., data visualization, geographic information systems, crime analysis).
Minimum Experience / Education
UNC Charlotte gives primary consideration to the earned doctorate or terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline.
Preferred Education Skills and Experience
Strong candidates will have a methodological skill set that will broaden the department's existing strengths, either quantitatively or qualitatively. Additionally, candidates should be committed to high-quality teaching and mentoring of students at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels.
