Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
We seek a visionary scholar and educator to join our faculty and collaborate in the development of a strategic new interdisciplinary curriculum focused on the intersection of music, business innovation, and technology. This position is a new investment in the future of creative careers at our institution, which will include collaboration with the College of Arts and Architecture and the Belk College of Business in addition to other relevant technology/arts units. Duties include teaching courses related to music entrepreneurship, technology, and/or industry, and retaining excellent students. Additional duties may be assigned commensurate with the candidate's expertise and the department's curricular, service, and community outreach needs. The successful candidate will demonstrate potential for significant contributions to the field through research and a strong commitment to developing a cohort of entrepreneurially minded students.
Minimum Experience / Education:
UNC Charlotte gives primary consideration to the earned doctorate or terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline.
Preferred Education Skills and Experience:
Candidates must hold a doctorate in music, have experience in the areas listed above (ABD considered; terminal degree must be conferred by the contract start date), and have demonstrated success teaching at the college level. Preference will be given to applicants with demonstrated expertise in technology and innovation in the music sector, significant scholarly/creative contributions, effective communication skills, a record of professional activity in music venues, significant research achievement, and demonstration of ancillary benefits to the department in cross-curricular interests and community engagement. Candidates who have demonstrated potential for peer-reviewed publication and research experience are especially desirable.
