Basic Function:

Riverside City College is seeking an Assistant Professor, Chemistry who will carry primary responsibility for lecture, laboratory and/or hybrid instruction in Chemistry courses at any level typically taught at the community college (Introductory GOB through Sophomore level Organic Chemistry).

Education:

Master's degree in chemistry; OR Bachelor's in chemistry or biochemistry and Master's in biochemistry, chemical engineering, chemical physics, or geochemistry; OR the Equivalent. (All degrees and units used to satisfy minimum qualifications shall be from accredited institutions).

Experience:

A minimum of one-year chemistry teaching experience is required. Teaching experience of chemistry courses (both lecture and laboratory) at the community college is preferred. Applicants with in-person, laboratory-based course and/or research experience at the Master's or Doctoral level are preferred.

Must have the ability to use computers, software packages available to support modern curriculum, Learning Management Systems, such as Canvas, and the capability of making all materials 508 compliant and accessible... The ideal candidate will (1) have recent experience working with African American, Latinx/Hispanic, Native American and other racially/ethnically, socioeconomically minoritized students...

Duties and Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will, among other things:

1. Fulfill the duties of a full-time instructor...
2. The instructional assignment will include lecture and laboratory classes...
3. Faculty will participate in outcomes assessment work.
4. Faculty assignment is based upon the assumption of workload of forty hours weekly...
5. Institutional service activities adding up to 5 hours/week...
6. Participation in discipline/department decision-making processes...
7. Responsibilities also include maintaining standards of professional conduct...

Teaching assignment may include early morning (e.g., 7am), day, evening, online, hybrid, and/or off campus classes.
