The Department of Psychiatry and Health Behavior at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University is seeking candidates for the position of Assistant Professor, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
This position with the Department of Psychiatry and Health Behavior involves care of child and adolescents in the departmental outpatient clinic and clinics within the community. Duties would include serving as supervisor of a psychiatry resident clinic, as well as providing direct services without learners present. Support would also be offered for facilitating pre-clinical medical student case-based learning small groups.
Responsibilities
- Provide attending physician services and resident/fellow supervision services at a child and adolescent inpatient and residential treatment facility in the community as requested by department leadership.
- Provide outpatient patient care services at community treatment agencies with which the department contracts as requested by department leadership.
- Provide outpatient clinical services at the Department of Psychiatry and Health Behavior outpatient clinic as requested by department leadership. Clinic duties may include resident/fellow supervision.
- Provide didactic instruction to medical students, general psychiatry residents, and child and adolescent fellows.
- Participate in taking child and adolescent psychiatry call (approximately telephone call one weekday night once every six weeks and weekend call including Friday night, Saturday, and Sunday once every six weeks). Weekend call involves conducting child and adolescent inpatient rounds. These represent average assignments which may change because of faculty availability due to leave, illness, etc
Required Qualifications
MD, DO, or MBBS Degree required; board eligible; training in child and adolescent
Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:
- Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;
- Evidence of ability as a teacher;
- Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
- Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,
- Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
This position is fiscal year based and works year-round.
The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.
Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
