FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
New York City College of Technology of the City University of New York (CUNY), a comprehensive college offering associate and baccalaureate degrees, invites applications for a tenure track position at the assistant professor level in the Department of Construction Management and Civil Engineering, to begin during the 2026-2027 academic year. The Construction Management and Civil Engineering Department (CMCE) is located in the vibrant and technologically diverse community of DUMBO Brooklyn. The department is convenient to NYC’s Subway system and within walking distance of the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridge, which provide easy access to NYC’s booming construction sector with ample opportunities for research and consulting collaborations.
CMCE is a growing department with over 500 students. It is the only department to offer an ABET Accredited bachelor’s degree in construction engineering in CUNY. The department also offers associate degree programs in Civil Engineering Technology (ABET accredited) and Construction Management Technology.
Prospective candidates should demonstrate excellence in teaching. In addition to teaching, service, and scholarly achievements, this position offers an opportunity to develop curriculum and programs in a dynamic and highly regarded department with strong links to industry.
Reporting to the Chair of the Department of Construction Management and Civil Engineering, the Assistant Professor’s responsibilities include:
- Teaching core undergraduate construction management topics including project management, contract administration, labor management, safety, budgeting, and scheduling, with the option to teach in related disciplines such as computing or information technology in construction engineering.
- Engagement in program development, recruitment, and student advisement.
- Committee participation is expected, as well as other department, college, university and/or community service.
- Continued professional growth and scholarly contributions to the field.
Day, evening, and weekend teaching and department duties may be required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution. Candidates with a minimum of a master's degree in construction management or a related field, plus a professional license (PE, RA) and extensive professional experience, may be considered.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Ph.D. in construction management or a related field.
- Prior teaching experience in a higher education setting preferred.
- A history of professional practice in construction or a construction-related field.
- Working knowledge of the U.S. construction industry.
COMPENSATION
$76,937 - $94,909. Salary commensurate with education and experience.
