The committee anticipates requesting additional materials by early January, conducting Teams interviews with semifinalists in late January 2026, and hosting on-campus interviews in February 2026.

About the Department

UNCG is home to one of the oldest MFA writing programs in the country. The MFA is housed within the Department of English, which is comprised of actively publishing scholars and home to flourishing graduate programs.

English has emerged as a campus leader in envisioning and supporting innovative futures for humanities work at public institutions, through such initiatives as UNCG’s Humanities Network and Consortium (HNAC). Building on the leadership of English Department collaborators, UNCG aims to be a model institution for connecting humanities students to meaningful careers and communities through a multi-year, Mellon-supported Humanities @ Work initiative.

UNCG is a Minority Serving Institution and for multiple years has been the top university in the state for social mobility. Nearly eighty percent of recent graduates report remaining in North Carolina after graduation. Knowledge of and commitment to our unique student body informs the work of the English Department, the College of Arts and Sciences, and the university. UNCG fosters an environment of collaboration across departments and schools and supports community-engaged research. UNCG is an EOE/AA/M/F/D/V employer and is strongly committed to increasing faculty diversity.
