Assistant Professor (Education) in Palaeobiology
Job Summary
The School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences at the University of Birmingham is seeking to appoint an Assistant Professor in Palaeobiology (Education-focused). This is a 1-year fixed-term, part-time post at 0.5 FTE, providing cover for a research fellowship, and is expected to start in September 2026.
Main Responsibilities
Education
- Contribute collaboratively to leading curriculum development and/or renewal;
- Develop and manage approaches to teaching and learning that are best practice in the subject area;
- Using a variety of methods in teaching and advising individuals and groups of undergraduates, including (as appropriate): Designing contemporary, inclusive, engaging and academically challenging curriculum content;
Person Specification
- Ability to start the position on the 1st September 2026.
- A higher Degree relevant to the discipline area (usually PhD) or equivalent qualifications.
- Relevant and demonstrable teaching experience and scholarship within the subject specialism, Palaeobiology.
