Lecturer - Simulation and Clinical Skills
Main duties and responsibilities
You will support simulated practice learning in line with the NMC Standards of Proficiency (2018) and Standards for Simulated Practice learning (2023). As part of the simulation and clinical skills team, you will deliver clinical skills and simulation teaching across the nursing curriculum. This includes the design, planning and support of skills teaching, simulation scenarios, simulated practice learning and practical assessments. You will participate in student recruitment and provide student support. Learners include pre-registration nursing students (BSc and MSc programmes), student nursing associates, and qualified nurses undertaking a range of modules. Working collaboratively with module teams, you will help ensure an engaging, safe and contemporary learning experience within an evolving work environment.
Skills and experience required
You will possess sufficient breadth or depth of specialist knowledge in the discipline of contemporary nursing and healthcare practice, including the NMC Standards of Proficiency (2018) and standards for simulated practice learning (2023) to work within established teaching programmes and have knowledge of current practice and guidance in relation to a range of common clinical skills, including the ability to maintain high standards of health and safety within clinical skills learning environments and an understanding of how these relate to simulation and clinical skills teaching.
You will have proven experience in a range of clinical skills (acute or community) applicable to all four fields of nursing and teaching experience (may include clinical informal/practical). You will have an ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Qualifications required
You will be educated with a minimum of a Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline and hold current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council as a Registered Nurse. A recognised teaching qualification, or a willingness to undertake a course to gain a teaching qualification is also essential.
