Job Description
BASIC FUNCTION:
The successful candidate will have primary responsibility for lecture and lab instruction in a variety of Engineering courses. The assignment may include courses in Solidworks, engineering circuit analysis, engineering drawing, technical design, programming concepts, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, contextualized math, statics, and other courses in the engineering discipline. Develops and maintains a professional rapport with diverse education, government, and industry partners. Participation in and completion of course and program level assessment is expected.
EDUCATION:
Master's in any field of engineering, or bachelor's in any of the above and Master's in mathematics, physics, computer science, chemistry, or geology; or a bachelor's in any field of engineering with a professional engineer's license, or the equivalent.
EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of two years of successful community college, high school, regional occupational program, or baccalaureate level teaching is required. The ideal candidate will exhibit teaching competence in more than one area of specialization in the field. Candidates with competence in career and technical education, and workforce training, are strongly encouraged to apply. Experience with assessment of student learning outcomes is highly desired.

The candidate should display positive and effective interpersonal skills when interacting with both students and staff.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The instructional assignment will include lecture and laboratory classes in Engineering and related disciplines, the incorporation of industry certifications into the curriculum, and will provide students with interactive simulations.
- Assignments are based upon the assumption of workload of forty hours weekly, including but not limited to conducting classes, class preparation, student/faculty evaluations, office hours, committee work, student learning outcomes assessment, program review, student activities, maintaining industry expertise, and other duties per the bargaining unit agreement.
- Provides leadership in program development, developing regional college/industry/governmental agency partnerships, and developing/modifying curriculum in response to industry and community need.
- Institutional service activities are expected of all faculty members.
- Collaborate and assist with outreach to community and underserved student populations.
- Participation in discipline/department decision making processes and work regarding curriculum, program development, scheduling and other matters are also expected of all department faculty.
- Responsibilities also include maintaining standards of professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the professional position.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Ten-month, tenure-track position.
- Salary is commensurate with academic preparation, and full-time teaching or equivalent experience with a range from Column C, Step 1 to Column H, Step 6 of the current Faculty Salary Schedule.
- Medical and dental benefits are provided for the employee and legal dependents.
- A $50,000 life insurance policy is provided for the employee.
- Orientation to college is required as is adherence to Improvement of Instruction policy.
- Maintaining broad knowledge of academic or occupational area and design pedagogy related to learning outcomes is expected.
- Responsible for all other conditions of employment required of full-time faculty members such as a willingness to be involved in District promotional activities, active participation in college committee work, student activities and other support services, and appropriate professional activities.
