Assistant Professor - Entry into Nursing Practice
The University of Maryland School of Nursing (UMSON) is seeking a full-time Assistant Professor who is doctorly prepared for the department of Organizational Systems and Adult Health. This position is responsible for teaching clinically related courses focused on the acute health care needs of adults and achieving positive program outcomes and course objectives in the Entry into Practice, nursing programs (Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Masters Entry into Practice).
UMSON enrolls more than 2,000 students in its baccalaureate, master's, and doctoral programs. UMSON is part of the University of Maryland graduate professional campus that also includes the schools of medicine, dentistry, law, pharmacy, and social work. Its interdisciplinary graduate school has more than 40 programs in biosciences, law, and social work, and is one of the fastest growing biomedical research centers in the nation. The unique composition of the campus enables health professionals to address clinical care, public policy, and social issues through multidisciplinary research, scholarship, and community action. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES INCLUDE:
- Provides classroom, lab, and clinical instruction that focuses on adult health content, method of delivery, evaluation of students, and recommendations for curricular adjustments and modifications for entry into practice nursing students.
- Participates in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of clinical simulations relative to courses taught.
- Uses evidence-based best practices for educating entry into practice nursing students in pathophysiological concepts and the assessment and management of acutely ill adults.
- Advises and mentors entry into practice nursing students.
- Contributes to the collaborative efforts of an interprofessional team, serves on departmental and school committees.
HIRING RANGE: $122,000

QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, or DNP)
- Current Registered Nurse license to practice in the state of Maryland or a compact state
- Recent experience in the clinical care of adult populations in acute healthcare settings
- Prior teaching experience is preferred
