Description
The School of Health Sciences is currently seeking applications for an Assistant Professor position. This is a full-time, on campus, nine-month, tenure-track position within the Health Care Management and/or Health Informatics and/or Health Administration programs. There is an anticipated start date of August 11, 2026.

Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity.
Examples of Duties
Providing classroom instruction in multiple delivery formats as assigned including on-campus lecture (day, evening, and/or weekend) and online (traditional and accelerated); holding student engagement hours; participating and completing course/program assessment activities; providing student mentorship and academic advisement; assisting in recruitment and retention activities of students to the School of Health Sciences, performing service activities for the profession, university, and community; assisting in the accreditation/certification process; engaging in scholarly research and producing creative activities consistent with the School of Health Sciences' expectations; completing other duties as assigned by the Director of the School of Health Sciences.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Doctoral degree in Health Administration/Health Management or
- Doctoral degree in Business Administration/Management (or closely related field) with healthcare-related tested work experience (within the last 5 years) in at least two of the following areas as they apply specifically and directly to the US healthcare system:
- US health care policy
- diversity, equity, inclusivity, and cultural competency in healthcare
- healthcare finance and/or healthcare economics
- healthcare information and/or informatics
- US health care law
- ABD applicants pursuing doctoral degrees in areas listed above (with tested work experience as mentioned above) may be considered if all doctoral degree requirements will be completed by August 11, 2026.
- If all degree requirements are not completed by that date, a term, non-tenure track appointment may be offered in accordance with University policy ( http://policies.siu.edu/personnel_policies/chapter2/ch2-faps/conting.php ).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Candidates with a demonstrated commitment to working with undergraduate and graduate students; and/or working with groups from diverse backgrounds and/or; experience teaching US healthcare management/administration courses at the university level; and/or experience as a manager or supervisor within the last 5 years in a US healthcare organization resulting in direct healthcare industry-specific knowledge; and/or understanding of AUPHA certification processes will be given preference.
