Assistant Professor in Biomedical Engineering and Electrical Engineering

Job Description

Applications are invited for a joint tenure-track Assistant Professor position at the University of Maine (UMaine) in the Department of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering (CBE) and the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE). This is a full-time, 50/50 split appointment between the two departments, with the successful candidate expected to contribute to both programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

We seek candidates with expertise in the design of analog circuits with biomedical applications, such as bioinstrumentation, microphysiological systems, or biomedical optics. These areas are critical for new medical innovations, including: advanced imaging systems, smart wearable and implantable health monitoring devices, high precision surgical micro-tools, and drug discovery and delivery. The Institute of Medicine, the Graduate School of Biomedical Science and Engineering, the NIH-funded Center for Biomedical Research Excellence, and a T-32 graduate training grant at UMaine provide excellent transdisciplinary research opportunities. Applications from all areas are invited, with particular interest in: 1) analog circuit design and bioinstrumentation, 2) design and fabrication of microphysiological systems, or 3) design and fabrication of biomedical optical systems. This faculty member will play a pivotal role in advancing new and emerging applications at the intersection of electrical engineering and biomedical engineering.
