Approval on absolute merit depends on candidates having an overall curriculum vitae that the jury duly considers to hold scientific and pedagogical merit, research capacity and activity compatible with the subject area for which the competition was opened and suited to the respective teaching category, as documented in the information submitted for the competition.

For the purposes of the absolute merit assessment, a favourable vote must be justified by the cumulative fulfilment of the following circumstances or qualitative requirements:

1. Holding a PhD degree in the subject area of Computer Engineering, or another considered suitable, taking into account the specific field of Software Technologies for Embedded and Cyber-Physical Systems.
2. Having an overall curriculum vitae that the jury duly considers to hold scientific merit, research capacity and activity compatible with the specific field of Software Technologies for Embedded and Cyber-Physical Systems, and suited to the respective teaching category;
3. Having quality scientific activity, in the subject area of Computer Engineering, on topics suited to the specific field of Software Technologies for Embedded and Cyber-Physical Systems, in the 5 (five) year period up to the deadline for application;

Once the candidates approved on absolute merit have been definitively identified, they shall be ranked on relative merit, based on the dimensions and ranking criteria, their respective weighting and the scoring system defined in point 9.1. Each jury member shall carry out their assessment exercise, scoring each candidate in relation to each dimension, on a scale of 0 to 100 points, taking into account the criteria and weights associated with each criterion.

The Final Classification (FC) of the assessment of each candidate by each jury member is calculated using the weighting formula for the various dimensions, taking into account the weights associated with each criterion, according to the formula:

FC = 0.45*DTC + 0.35*DP + 0.20*DO

As summarised in the following table, which reflects the weights associated with each dimension.

Table 1
Weights associated with the assessment dimensions and criteria

Dimension - Wt.(%) / Criterion - Wt.(%)

DTC – Technical-Scientific Dimension 45

• PID – Research and technological development projects 30
• PC – Scientific output 30
• OR – Doctoral thesis supervision 10
• PRJ – Current and innovative scientific project 20
• EP/AO – Professional experience and/or other activities 10

DP - Pedagogical Dimension 35

• AL – Teaching activity 40
