Job Summary

Position Description

The Naveen Jindal School of Management at The University of Texas at Dallas (UT Dallas) invites applications for a tenure-system Assistant Professor position in Healthcare Management. Candidates may come from business disciplines (e.g., Information Systems, Operations Management, Economics, Marketing) or from closely related fields (e.g., Industrial Engineering, Statistics, Data Science) with research agendas aligned with healthcare management.

The successful candidate will hold their primary appointment in one of the Jindal School's core business disciplines according to their academic training and research focus, while also being affiliated with the newly established Healthcare Management Interdisciplinary Area. This dual affiliation provides an opportunity to contribute to both disciplinary scholarship and the interdisciplinary mission of advancing healthcare management, analytics, and innovation.

Teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate and graduate courses in healthcare management, healthcare analytics/AI, and related areas. In addition to teaching, the position requires an active program of high-quality research and publication. Candidates are also expected to contribute to service activities within the university and the profession.

The appointment commences for the fall 2026 semester.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience: Candidates must have a PhD or equivalent in a relevant business discipline (e.g., Information Systems, Operations Management, Economics, etc.) or in a closely related discipline such as Industrial Engineering, Statistics, or Data Science with a research agenda aligned with business and healthcare management. Candidates with ABD status will be considered at the application/interviewing stage. Candidates are expected to demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative, engaging, and dynamic environment comprised of individuals with a range of backgrounds, skills, and perspectives. We are seeking candidates able to produce research and scholarly or creative achievements that enhance the program and the discipline, and able to deliver high quality teaching using evidence-based practices to effectively engage students from a range of backgrounds and experiences.

Preferred Education and Experience: Preference will be given to candidates whose work advances the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and advanced analytics in healthcare.

The School and Area

The Naveen Jindal School of Management has become a national and international leader in research and education since its own entrepreneurial beginning in 1975. Over 10,000 undergraduate and graduate students are enrolled in the Jindal School, the largest and fastest growing school at UT Dallas. With over 30 programs, we boast faculty and student bodies that provide a broad mix of backgrounds and experiences.

The Healthcare Management Interdisciplinary Area integrates expertise from across business disciplines to address challenges in healthcare delivery, technology, and policy. It oversees both undergraduate and graduate degree programs in healthcare management and maintains strong ties with the Center for Healthcare Leadership and Management (CHLM), as well as regional healthcare partners including UT Southwestern Medical Center, Texas Health Resources, and Baylor Scott & White. Faculty members in this area collaborate across disciplines to drive innovation in healthcare analytics, AI, and management.
