Position Summary
The Economics Department at the State University of New York College at Cortland welcomes applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor in a pluralist department beginning Fall 2026 to work with undergraduate majors in Business Economics, Economics, and Political Economy. Teaching responsibilities may include principles courses in management and marketing, and entrepreneurship, as well as a rotation of upper-level electives that reflect the candidate's research interests. Faculty are required to sustain an active research agenda, student advisement and service to the department and college to support an equitable and diverse scholarly environment.
The successful candidate will become a part of our dynamic and expanding Economics Department, comprised of over 600 undergraduate majors. Our diverse curriculum supports majors in economics and business economics, as well as our emerging interdisciplinary programs in entrepreneurship and healthcare management. Major Responsibilities
Teaching
Teach courses in principles of management and marketing, entrepreneurship, as well as a rotation of upper-level electives that reflect the candidate's research interests.
Scholarship/Research
Maintain an active research agenda
Service
Regularly engage in service to the department, school, college, and community
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Faculty are required to maintain regular office hours and provide regular advising and mentoring interaction with students in support of an equitable and diverse scholarly environment.
Functional and Supervisory Relationships
- Reports to the academic department chair
- Works closely with department faculty
Required Qualifications
Candidate must possess Ph.D./DBA or if ABD, degree must be completed by time of initial review for reappointment. Please note: Reappointment will not be considered without a completed Ph.D./DBA prior to review date. Evidence of expertise in the field(s) of management. Demonstrated potential for scholarly productivity.
Preferred Qualifications
Expertise in management courses in at least one of the following areas is preferred: Marketing, Operations Management, Entrepreneurship, Leadership and Ethics, and Strategic Management. Preference will be given to candidates with college teaching experience, demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching students from diverse backgrounds, and demonstrated potential for scholarship. MBA is preferred.
