Description of Department: The CPS Department (https://www.oswego.edu/counseling-and-psychological-services) is housed within the School of Education and prepares graduate level students in one of three programs. The School Psychology Program is nationally accredited by NASP and prepares students to work as school psychologists. The Mental Health Counseling Program prepares students to work in agency settings and leads toward New York State Licensure as a Mental Health Counselor. The Mental Health Counseling Program is CACREP accredited. The School Counseling Program prepares students to work as school counselors. The CPS Department has a long-standing reputation for developing high caliber professionals in these areas.
Students in the Department have the opportunity to earn a specialized certificate in Trauma Studies and or take specialized classes in Play Therapy. Faculty in the Mental Health Programs have varied research interests including Play Therapy, Eco-Therapy, and Diversity Issues in Counselor Education.
The Counseling and Psychological Services Department at the State University of New York at Oswego invites applications to fill a full time Assistant Professor of Mental Health Counseling.

Compensation: $63,000 - $68,000 commensurate with experience plus full New York State benefits package.

Description of Responsibilities:
- The Assistant Professor will primarily teach graduate classes in the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) accredited Mental Health Counseling program housed within the Counseling and Psychological Services Department. Teaching expectations will cover a variety of areas as needed, including courses such as counseling theory and techniques, group methods, counselor orientation, and internship/practicum supervision.
- The Assistant Professor will be expected to display a potential for excellence in teaching and scholarship, commitment to graduate education, and possess communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to work effectively with a diverse array of students and colleagues.
- The Assistant Professor will offer service to the department and College, including but not limited to support for program admission, student advisement, and activities related to CACREP accreditation.

Required Qualifications:
- The Assistant Professor will have a doctoral degree by the time of appointment in counselor education (or a closely related field) from a CACREP accredited program.
- Ability to teach any of the required Mental Health Counseling coursework.
Preferred Qualifications:
- New York State Licensure as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor
- New York State certification as a School Counselor
- Experience supporting accreditation processes, such as writing a CACREP self-study
- Membership in and experience with professional counseling organizations at the state and national level(s)
- Experience teaching in a college setting
