The Department of Psychology, College of Social Sciences (CSS), University of Hawai’i at Mānoa (UHM) invites applicants for the position of Assistant Professor (F-3) position in Neuroscience. The hire will join the Cognitive, Neuroscience, and Social area, and desired applicants will add to the department’s strengths in neuroscience and cognition. This is a 9-month, full-time, permanent, tenure-track faculty appointment to begin August 1, 2026, subject to position clearance and availability of funds.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop a research program; undertake research/scholarly projects in the field or branch of learning represented by and consistent with the goals of the UHM CSS.
- Seek extramural funding.
- Publish research in peer-reviewed journals.
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in neuroscience, biopsychology, and seminars in specialty area, and courses serving departmental needs (e.g., Statistical Techniques in Psychology), as needed.
- Maintain a professional level of performance and productivity in assigned areas of teaching, research, and service.
- Supervise and mentor undergraduate, MA and PhD students.
- Contribute to development activities at the discipline, department, and campus levels.
- Work independently and with colleagues to select, develop, and revise curricular materials, instructional techniques, and assessment strategies at the course, credential and/or discipline levels.
- Provide service to department, college, university, and community.
- Participate in professional and self-development activities.
- Other duties as assigned by the Department Chair.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Psychology with an emphasis in Neuroscience, Cognitive Neuroscience, or closely related area from an accredited college or university or foreign equivalent by date of hire;
- Record of research accomplishment (publications, grants) commensurate with time in the field;
- Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in neuroscience, biopsychology, and seminars in specialty area;
- Demonstrated ability to mentor students in the applicant’s area of research;
- Demonstrated ability to maintain professionalism in meeting and conferring with others.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Post-doctoral or comparable research experience.
- Research interests that contribute to the program area in cognition, neuroscience, and social psychology.
- Demonstrated ability to receive extramural funding.
- Experience teaching student populations with varying backgrounds.
