Milwaukee School of Engineering is accepting applications for a full-time Assistant Professor of Nursing. The Assistant Professor will have the flexibility to teach in either an undergraduate BSN program or graduate MSN program. Teaching environments include the classroom, laboratory, simulation, and clinical settings. This position will also include the responsibilities of course coordination, curriculum development, and committee involvement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching/Course Management
- Teaching classes using a variety of teaching strategies
- Development and dissemination of course syllabus, assignments and exams
- Collaboration with course coordinator/faculty teaching multiple sections; with clinical sites in teaching; and with lab/simulation faculty as needed for courses
- Organization and maintenance of LMS for courses and ensuring currency of course content
- Student evaluation through formative and summative means
- Clear communication with students regarding academic progression/professionalism
- Evaluation of course/teaching strategies at end of quarter
- Offering office hours
- Relating course content to Unit and Course Learning Outcomes
- Integration of new technology into courses
Attendance at meetings
- School of Nursing Faculty and Staff
- Committees
- MSOE Town Halls and Professional Development
Course Coordination
- Organizing meetings with course faculty
- Ensuring consistency in course expectations across sections including syllabus, assignments and exams
- Oversight of LMS
- Review and update of lab/simulation activities, course materials and textbooks
- Oversight of integration of new technology into courses
- Ensure clinical readiness of students for the clinical setting
- Clear communication with faculty and students regarding clinical sites and requirements
- Handling student concerns within the course

Other Duties and Responsibilities
- Participation in MSOE and School of Nursing activities (Professional Development Day, Graduation, Pinning, Open Houses)
- Committee Involvement in School of Nursing and MSOE University
- Professional Scholarship - Faculty development and Attendance at conferences
Qualifications
- MSN required
- Terminal degree in nursing preferred - Expectation to pursue terminal degree within 2 years
- Background of teaching in higher education preferred
- Current unencumbered RN license
- Practice background or currently practicing
- A background in medical/surgical nursing as well as advanced nursing practice is preferred.
- Ability to clearly communicate in a variety of ways
- Ability to work effectively as a part of a team
- Efficiency in use of computer programs including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for teaching, Outlook for scheduling
- Effective organizational skills and methods for prioritization
- Energetic and positive attitude
- Ability to recognize and initiate change as needed
- Competent in conflict resolution
- Ability to have difficult conversations
Skills and Abilities

- Grading scales
- Ability to quickly solve problem-solve for unexpected issues (i.e.: technology in classroom or simulation center does not work)
