ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF ART AND DESIGN (GRAPHIC DESIGN AND INTERACTION DESIGN)

THE DEPARTMENT: The Department of Art & Design serves around 500 undergraduate majors and offers BA and BFA degrees in various concentrations, including Graphic Design and Interaction Design. It has a strong commitment to in-person instruction.

DUTIES OF THE POSITION: The Department seeks an inclusive, collaborative Assistant Professor in Graphic Design and Interaction Design. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, curriculum development, maintaining a creative practice, academic advising, and committee work.

Teaching Responsibilities: Teach three to four studio-based courses per semester, including core and advanced classes in graphic design and interaction design.

Creative Practice & Department Service: Maintain an active creative agenda and contribute to service activities.

Professional Engagement: Foster connections with community colleges and organizations to support a diverse student population.

RANK AND SALARY: Assistant Professor, with anticipated salary of $7,219 to $7,481 monthly.

DATE OF APPOINTMENT: Fall 2026

QUALIFICATIONS: Requires an MFA, MDes, or similar terminal degree; experience teaching Graphic Design; active professional practice; expertise in traditional graphic design and industry software.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in interaction design, AI developments, diversity in design, and inclusive pedagogy.
