Assistant Professor of Business Analytics (tenure track)
The McColl School of Business at
Queens University of Charlotte invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor of Business Analytics with application expertise in
accounting, artificial intelligence, finance, information systems, or marketing. We are looking for candidates with a background in data
science who can present a clear vision on how they will develop the ability of our students to make informed decisions by employing
appropriate quantitative techniques and by recommending operational, technological or innovative solutions. The position is on the
tenure-track with a proposed start date of August 2026.
We are a welcoming faculty with a commitment to the academic success of our
students. Our new faculty member will be joining the AACSB-accredited McColl School of Business at an important time. Queens University of
Charlotte is engaged in merger activities with Elon University which will lead to a new joint entity focused on teaching and operational
excellence. Combined resources build a new model of what is possible in the changing higher education landscape and allows both institutions
to best serve their students and communities.
The successful candidate will be multi-dimensional and thrive across several areas.
First, a commitment to excellence in teaching and reflection of our mission to deliver a personalized and transformational educational
experience. Engagement of the local Charlotte business community to transform the classroom into a real-world business learning environment
is expected through guest speakers, executives-in-residence, case studies, applied projects, and more. Successful candidates will have the
opportunity to curate and deliver content in support of the Center for Leadership and Executive Education.
Support is available in
the form of travel to academic conferences, grants for innovative teaching, undergraduate research stipend and professional development
programming offered by the Center for the Advancement of Faculty Excellence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Include
- Teach undergraduate and graduate students in business analytics related courses.
- Sustain currency and
relevancy through a scholarly research agenda. - Maintain status as a scholarly academic for AACSB accreditation.
- Contribute
to course design and curriculum development. - Mentor and/or advise students.
- Collaborate with industry
professionals. - Service to the McColl School of Business and Queens University of Charlotte.
Required Experience,
Knowledge and Skills
- An earned doctorate degree (PhD or DBA) in Business Analytics, Operations Research, Information
Systems, or related discipline. Applicants at the ABD stage of their doctorate with significant progress towards finishing their degree may
also apply for the position. - Demonstrated teaching effectiveness at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
- A scholarly
research agenda leading to the production of standard artifacts, such as peer-reviewed journal publications, conference presentations, book
chapters, etc. - Sufficient qualifications to classify as a scholarly academic at time of hire.
- Experience using and teaching
analytical tools, e.g., Python, R, Tableau, Power BI, SQL, and/or Gurobi. - Ability to identify where and how to infuse artificial
intelligence tools into the curriculum (preferred). - Professional experience in the application of analytics and data science to
organizational decision-making (preferred).
