Assistant Professor of Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry at Mount Holyoke College invites applicants for a full-time tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor rank beginning July 1, 2026. The successful candidate may come from any sub-disciplinary background and will routinely teach the lecture and laboratory sections of the foundational analytical chemistry course, in addition to advanced course(s) in their area of expertise. The teaching load at Mount Holyoke College is 2/2. A Ph.D. (completed or anticipated) is required.

Applicants should have a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and research; a research program involving experimental measurements and analyses that can easily accommodate and encourage undergraduates is crucial. The successful applicant will have a broad background in chemistry and possess strong teaching, writing, and interpersonal skills. Strong candidates will demonstrate their aptitude for this environment in their application materials by reflecting on their teaching, research, and mentoring experiences to date, and describing their plans for the future. Excellent facilities for research are available, including a dedicated research laboratory and access to a rich array of instrumentation. Applicants should submit a cover letter, a curriculum vitae, a statement of teaching philosophy, a summary of research plans inclusive of undergraduates, and a statement concerning mentoring a diverse student body. Minimum starting rate of pay: $90,000.
