"Assistant Professor of Clinical Pathology and Laboratory Medicine"

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Indiana University, Indianapolis, Indiana seeks an Assistant Professor of Clinical Pathology & Laboratory Medicine. The Assistant Professor of Clinical Pathology and Laboratory Medicine in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Indiana University School of Medicine will have the following duties and responsibilities: Directs the Clinical Microbiology and Serology Laboratories at the Sidney and Lois Eskenazi Hospital; Development and validation of nucleic acid amplification-, cultivation-, and next generation sequencing-based assays for eventual implementation at the IU Health Pathology Laboratory; Teaching medical laboratory science and medical students, Divisional and extra-Divisional residents and fellows, and clinical laboratory staff; Research activities, including but not limited to development and validation of assays for emerging virus detection using human and non-human (e.g., bat, rodent, and arthropods) specimens. Candidates will have a Ph.D. in Biology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology; Medical Microbiology and Immunology, Immunology, or related; Must be board-eligible or board certified in Medical Microbiology by either the American Board of Pathology or by American Board of Medical Microbiology.
