Description of Department:

The Computer Science department coordinates six high-quality innovative degree programs: undergraduate majors in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Science, and Cognitive Science, along with graduate programs in Human Computer Interaction and Biomedical Health Informatics.

The Computer Science Department at the State University of New York at Oswego invites applications to fill multiple full time Assistant Professor positions.

Posting Date: November 8, 2024

Compensation: Salary range is commensurate with experience plus full New York State benefits package.

Date of Appointment: January or August 2025

Description of Responsibilities:

The Computer Science department seeks to hire multiple faculty, each with primary interests and expertise in one of the following areas, and secondary interests in one or more of the others:

  • Information Systems Engineering: retrieval, knowledge representation, requirements specification, applications programming
  • Health Informatics
  • Artificial intelligence and cognitive models
  • Sequential, parallel, and distributed algorithms and software development

Faculty members teach and perform associated curriculum development, assessment, and accreditation support for core and elective courses in one or more of the department's undergraduate programs in Computer Science, Information Science, Software Engineering, and Cognitive Science, and/or graduate programs in Biomedical Health Informatics and Human Computer Interaction. Faculty members also supervise student projects and capstones, conduct relevant research, and advise students.

Required Qualifications:

  • PhD in Computer Science, or a related field such as Health Informatics by time of appointment
  • Documented teaching and research ability
