Position Title: Assistant Professor of Economics (Tenure track)

Department: Brennan School of Business

Reports To: Dean of Brennan School of Business

Location: On-campus (River Forest, IL)

This position offers potential advancement to Associate Professor for candidates with relevant credentials and experience.

Position Summary:

Dominican University's Brennan School of Business is seeking applicants for an Assistant/Associate Professor of Economics for the 2025-2026 academic year, beginning in August 2025. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in teaching to a diverse student body in the area of economics. The preferred candidate will demonstrate a commitment to the university mission as well as to developing and sustaining a portfolio of intellectual contributions in the field of economics. The standard teaching load for this position is 21 credit hours, which corresponds to seven courses during the academic year.

Fully accredited by AACSB-International, the Brennan School of Business enrolls approximately 500 undergraduate business majors, and approximately 120 graduate business students within the Master of Business Administration (MBA), the Master of Science in Accounting (MSA), and the Master of Science in Health Care Management (MSHCM) Programs. Guided by the University's core values of Caritas et Veritas, the Brennan School of Business prepares a diverse student body, through experiential education, to become ethically minded business leaders who are committed to creating an equitable and sustainable global society. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teaching economics at both the undergraduate and graduate level.
  • Establish a research and scholarly agenda, demonstrating the ability or potential to produce quality peer-reviewed journal articles and other intellectual contributions.
  • Advise undergraduate students and serve on university and college committees.

Required Qualifications:

  • PhD in Economics (or a PhD in business with a concentration in Economics) from an AACSB-accredited institution is required.
  • ABD candidates will also be considered if evidence is provided that a doctoral degree will be conferred before May 15, 2026.
  • Commitment to fostering an equitable and inclusive learning environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses in economics. Applications are encouraged from all specializations, including microeconomics, macroeconomics, labor economics, and econometrics.
  • Experience teaching students from diverse populations and demonstrated experience creating or leading undergraduate entrepreneurship programs.
  • A background in creating and implementing experiential learning projects in economics is preferred, but candidates with all backgrounds will be considered.
  • The ability to advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Previous teaching experience at HSIs or minority-serving institutions.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to spend long durations of the workday sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds at times

Salary and FLSA Status

FLSA Status: Exempt, full-time

SALARY: $60,000 - $90,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications
