Position Summary:

The University of Wisconsin–Platteville invites applications for two full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Finance positions in the School of Business, with a start date of August 2026. The positions are located on the Platteville campus; applicants interested only in online teaching should instead apply for the School of Business Lecturer position.

While the primary focus is finance, the School of Business encourages candidates with expertise in additional areas such as accounting, economics, or management. The School of Business values exceptional teaching delivered by faculty with substantial industry experience in corporate finance, wealth management, or banking. Relevant professional credentials (e.g., CFP, CTP, CFA, CPA, CMA) are desirable.

These positions are full-time, 9-month, benefit-eligible, with a salary of $70,000–$80,000 per academic year, commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Key Job Responsibilities:

Teaching

  • Teach four courses per semester.
  • Courses taught may include a combination of undergraduate and graduate courses as well as across multiple modalities such as in-person, online, or hybrid.
  • Provide advising to students both within and outside of the classroom regarding their future careers in finance.

Scholarly & Professional Activity

  • Participate in the creation and distribution of scholarly work in alignment with the Boyer Model of Scholarship.
  • Engage and share expertise with professional associations and organizations.

Service

  • Engage in service to the university and the business school through formal and ad hoc committees.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in finance or a closely related field, with the expectation that a doctorate degree is conferred by year 5 for tenure consideration.
  • Relevant professional experience in corporate finance, investment, banking, or related industries.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses effectively.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to advise and mentor students.
