Assistant Professor of Latine Theology
Job Details
The Department of Theology & Religious Studies at Molloy University invites applications for a full-time tenure track position with specialization in Latine Theology beginning September 2026. Molloy University proudly became a Hispanic-Serving Institution in 2024; thus, the Department and the School of Arts & Sciences seek candidates whose research and teaching interests focus on Latine theologies, and whose commitment to service and engaged pedagogy will enrich our contributions to this and other aspects of the University’s Catholic, Dominican mission and core values. Applicants with qualifications meeting requirements for the rank of Assistant Professor, as well as ABD candidates nearing completion of the PhD, are invited to apply. Candidates with teaching experience are particularly encouraged to apply.
The Department seeks a new colleague who, in addition to offering undergraduate courses within the Latine Theology specialization, can also teach introductory and upper-level courses in theology/religious studies, serving both the TRS major and the general education curriculum (including the opportunity to teach Ethics and the interdisciplinary Core course—a capstone in Molloy’s General Education Program). The ideal candidate shows promise as a dynamic and student-centered educator, committed to the transformative undergraduate liberal arts educational experience, and enthusiastic about attracting new students to the TRS program (major and minor), as well as the engaging students through other curricular and co-curricular opportunities University-wide.
The successful candidate will demonstrate the potential to contribute across all three pillars of faculty work—teaching, scholarship, and service. Candidates must also be prepared to meet the needs of a diverse learning community. Faculty are expected to contribute and collaborate in the development and implementation of creative programming and curricula in both the Department of Theology & Religious Studies and the School of Arts & Sciences. Experience with instructional technologies is a benefit. The standard course-load for faculty teaching at the undergraduate level is 12 credits per semester (a 4-4 load).
Preferred Qualifications:
- PhD in Theology or Religious Studies preferred; ABD considered
- College-level teaching experience in Theology and/or Religious Studies
- Evidence of an active/developing plan of scholarship/publication, especially in the field of Latine Theologies
