Assistant Professor of Management and Marketing - IFO
Job Description
The faculty member in this position will be expected to teach a range of courses, including but not limited to: Principles of Marketing, Principles of Selling, Sales Management, Business to Business Marketing, Business Negotiations, Introduction to Business, Computer Concepts, and other Management and Marketing courses as needed. Additional responsibilities include academic advising, student club advising, involvement in department projects, assessment data collection, and activities, representing the department at campus-wide recruiting events, and participation in campus committees. Duties also include contribution to student growth and development, participation in department and institutional activities, evaluation of student performance, engagement in scholarly activities, and participation in service to the University and community. SMSU, in its commitment to meeting the service needs of the region, expects faculty to engage in regional service, education or study as part of their community service responsibility.
Minimum Qualifications
- Ph.D. or DBA in Management or related field (consideration for candidates completing degree within one semester).
- Teaching experience in Management and Marketing at the undergraduate level.
- Demonstrated teaching excellence (student evaluations required).
- Professional work experience in Marketing or Management.
- Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, online and web-supported delivery.
- Written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and community partners.
Preferred Qualifications
- Teaching experience in Management or Marketing at the graduate level
- Evidence of current scholarly or professional activity.
- Demonstrated teaching effectiveness in online or HyFlex environments.
- Demonstrated positive student impacts outside the classroom.
- Understanding and appreciation of liberal education and a global perspective.
- Demonstrated ability to teach and work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
This is a fixed term position that will end following the final duty day of spring semester 2027. There is no guaranteed renewal beyond one year. Priority will be given to those who apply by 2/6/26
